If you open a web/blog you will see an icon on addressbar. If you make blog in blogger your default icon will be like this:
But you can change the icon (favicon) with your own picture. it’s very simple to do that. The first thing you have to do is prepare an image with low dimension, it’s about 22×22 pixel to 32×32 pixel, actualy bigger is no problem but it will reduce speed to open your web/blog. And they can be formatted as gif, jpg, bmp, ico, png. Then you store your image to webhosting. But if don’t know how to make it or don’t want to occupied you can use the icon listed below. Ok lets begin the trick.

1. Login to blogger, chose “Layouts –> Edit HTML
2. Put the code below into your <head> tag or before <head> code.

<link href=’http://www.w3code.net/icon/image1.gif‘ rel=’SHORTCUT ICON’/>

3. The bold text is an address for your icon, you can change it with your own or just copy the below listed address icon.
4. Save your editing.

WordPress is a popular personal publishing system, which is written in PHP. From a rather simple bit of code, WordPress has evolved into a full content management system. In fact, this state of the art application has become the world’s largest, self-hosted blogging platform. As a content management system, it shares several similarities with Joomla.
Incorporating WordPress into your Joomla Web site increases the number of options you have for your blog posts. This would enable you to access all your WordPress blogs through Joomla.

Importing WordPress into a Joomla Website

Backup your WordPress site to your hard drive, so that you can import it later on. The simplest way to do this is with the backup manager that comes with WordPress.

Download and install the full Joomblog package from Joomla’s “Extensions” page (see Resources below). Make sure that the package contains 4 files:com_joomblog_2.2 RC4.zip (this is the main component)
mod_joomblog_2.2 RC4.zip (this is the module you’ll use for registering and moderating visitors)
bot_joomblog_2.2 RC4.zip (a bot that will allow comments to blog posts)
plug_cbjoomblogtag 1.0.zip (this is the Community Builder plug-in)

Click Components. In the dropdown menu, click on Joomblog. Select your backed-up WordPress file, and click Import WordPress. You can view your articles by clicking “Content by Section” and next “WordPress_Joomla.”

Importing WordPress into a Joomla Website with JD-WordPress

Backup your WordPress site to your hard drive, so that you can import it later on. The simplest, fastest way is to use the backup manager that comes with WordPress. Download and install the JD-WordPress module.

Import the backed-up WordPress file into the same directory as Joomla. Click “Components.” On the menu that comes up, click on JD-WordPress and then click “Manage.”

Edit each of your posts and then put them in categories. Click “Save” when you are done.

You can now post new blogs in addition to any of the blogs that you have previously posted on your WordPress blog. You can also allow visitors to view and post comments to your blogs.

What’s the best way to redirect domain.com to www.domain.com on the url address bar whenever someone omits or skip the www from domain.com? My site can be reached by two different URLs.

For example

http://domain.com/about/us.html

http://www.domain.com/about/us.html

How do I do configure Apache web sever vps for this task?

Apache (web server) 301 redirect is the most efficient and search engine friendly method for webpage redirection. You can place following code Apache’s httpd.conf vhost section or in .htaccess file.

$ vi .htaccess

Append following config code:

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^domain\.com
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.domain.com/$1 [R=permanent,L]

Save and close the file. Above code will redirect users to www.domain.com url.

I adore WordPress themes! And I like to download and test the themes (free ones) frequently. Few days back I bumped across a plugin – TAC (Theme Authenticity Checker) which checks for any malicious code in the WordPress themes present in /wp-content/themes folder.

When I ran TAC today, I found that couple of the themes I downloaded yesterday (name withheld) were having some encoded string in the Footer section. TAC projected them as potential threats since some malicious code could have been injected and encoded. The code looked something like this.

echo(base64_decode(”PGRpdiBjbGFzcz0iZm9vdGVy
Ij4NCiAgPGRpdiBjbGFzcz0iZm9vdGVyX3R4dCI+IA0KICAgIDxw
DQoNCiAgICA8cD4NCiAgICAgIDxhIGhy
g0KDQo=”))

I started looking out for a tool which can decode this encoded string for me. And I found out this page which can encode as well decode! There is a radio button at the bottom where you need to select the decode option. The output decoded data will be displayed in the same screen within few seconds!
